Anytime a client tells me that they are a photographer too, I get instantly nervous. It makes me nervous because if I were getting my pictures taken, I would be SO picky. I pity the photographer who has to take my photos. But Kendra put me at ease and her boys were such a breeze to photograph. And I just can’t get enough of the fall colors. Take note people - if you want fall colors in Amarillo, the second half of October and the first part of November is the time to take pictures!
Read MoreThis was my second time taking pictures of the Wing’s (the first time was 3 years ago I think!). Their kids are practically all grown up now…just kidding…but this time around did feel much easier than the first time because I didn’t have to say anyone’s name to get them to look at the camera. My favorite picture from the entire session happened when I needed the kids to loosen up and laugh a little. Their dad Dustin was standing behind me so I told him to do something funny and lo and behold - he did the floss dance for about a millisecond. It was enough for the kids to explode in laughter - I’ll see if you can guess which photo that was.
Read MoreI love sweet young families! The Kirkland’s mainly booked this photo session for their youngest, Arabella, to get some photos to celebrate her first year of life but of course, I took photos of the whole family. I’ve been thinking a lot lately about how some personality traits are so ingrained in us and how they become apparent from a very early age. I’m not trying to toot my own horn here but I think I was able to capture the personalities of the Kirklands’ kids. Arabella was sweet, a little shy at first, Caleb was the entertainer of the group, and oldest Abigail was patient and confident. I hope I gave this sweet family good memories to look back on and remember this time of their lives.
Read MoreThis little cutie is about to turn 2 years old and her parents celebrated with a summertime, garden photo session. I simply cannot get over her darling little pink overalls and her pigtails! She likes flowers, balloons (except when they fly away), puppies, and holding mom and dad's hands. She's adorable.
Read MoreWhat a sweet, young family to spend an evening with! Despite the wind and the cold that February brought us, we made the most of our time and they kept each other warm. And when the little ones were done taking pictures, I spent some extra time with mom and dad because they haven't had pictures with just the two of them in quite some time :)
Read MoreThe Mauldin's family photo session in Palo Duro Canyon was one of those sessions that I got too distracted talking to the family and getting to know them when I should have been taking their pictures! I'm sort of kidding but I really did love getting to know this wonderful couple and their energetic, spirited kids. I can tell that they have a ton of love for each other. When a little girl tells her mom several times in an hour in the most sincere voice, "I love you, Mom," you know they've got something special.
Read MoreI photographed this sweet family back in November of last year and I was soooo happy to see them again - this time in the heat of June! The timing ended up being quite perfect. Heather (mom) emailed me the day of their shoot because her 89 year old grandfather recently flew in from Iowa. She wanted to see if he could be in a couple of their family photos. I said, "Of course!!" What a wonderful, amazing opportunity for them. I was so happy to be able to capture that photo for them - it's the kind of thing that makes my job so joyful and worthwhile.
Read MoreThere's a first time for everything, right? Well Jillian + Lila was my first dog birthday photography session! Jillian (human) contacted me a few weeks ago about celebrating Lila's (dog) 1st birthday with a photo session and obviously I jumped at the opportunity. I understand what it's like to have a special relationship with your pup so to do a session honoring that relationship is so important to me. There really is no love like the kind between a dog and her owner.
