Laura + Carlos | Engagement Session in Washington, D.C.'s Georgetown Neighborhood and Rock Creek Park
I got to spend much more time than usual with Laura and Carlos for their engagement session and it was absolutely amazing. I loved seeing the way these two interact with each other and it actually taught me a valuable lesson: Be as kind to your significant other as you would be to anyone else. They treat each other with such respect and kindness with every interaction. When they call one another on the phone, they are excited to hear their voice - even if they saw each other a few minutes ago. When one feels worried or stressed about something, they talk each other through it. Their love and their friendship is their most prized possession. And they are generous people that bring joy to those around them. Being with them for an entire weekend could not have been more amazing.
This engagement session was a dream come true for me. I'm not going to pretend like I'm a jet-setter who travels all over the place for photography sessions. I do some traveling as a part of my work but I've never traveled as far as Washington, D.C. It was an exciting, and truthfully butterflys-in-stomach producing experience. A few years ago when I started my photography business, I never thought I would have such an opportunity. But I've realized that opportunities come our way when we are ready for them. Several years ago, I would have been too scared and nervous to take on a session like this - but I've been stretched and I've grown through everything I've been through. Despite my (small) amount of self doubt, I was ready for this.
