Year in Review: Some of my favorite images from 2016

Holy cow, it's been an exciting year! This is the year that I finally started doing photography full-time without depending on income from another job. It's the year that Mason and I bought our first home (my office is no longer in the kitchen!) And it's the year that I shot 28 weddings and around 100 portrait sessions. To say that it's been sunshine and rainbows all year would be a lie, however. I've had many frustrations and difficult moments but it's all been worth it. I'm still ecstatic that I get to wake up every day and live this life.

Heather + Dan | Classic Fall Wedding at Three Falls Cove

No, this wedding did not take place in the mountains of Colorado. Heather and Dan said "I do" in the hidden oasis that is Three Falls Cove on the edge of Lake Meredith on an overcast autumn day. Three Falls Cove is nestled in some of the tallest trees that you can find in West Texas and Heather and Dan's wedding style matched perfectly with the woodsy, earthy look.

Samantha + Shane | Autumn Anniversary Photo Session

This fall anniversary session makes me want to cuddle up with a good book and some hot tea. But seriously. Aren't these two the cutest? Samantha and Shane recently moved to Amarillo from New Hampshire, where Samantha is from and where they got married last fall. Before they moved here, she had a plan to take one photo from each season of the first year of their marriage. She found me through one of my past clients and I am so glad she chose me to take their fall photo because meeting them and taking their anniversary photos has turned out to be one of my favorite shoots of the year.

Aubree | Wolflin Neighborhood | Amarillo Bridal Photography

The Wolflin neighborhood of Amarillo is one of the most elegant places for a bridal photo session and there's nothing quite like having a client that fully trusts you - even when I put them in front of seemingly ugly pink stucco walls in their gorgeous wedding dress ;) Aubree's springtime bridal session was filled with roses, greenery, and her to-die-for mermaid gown. Seriously - get your fill of it below! She shines with classic elegance and she made the most beautiful bride during her wedding this weekend.

Brenda | Palo Duro Canyon Senior Photo Shoot

About two months ago, Dumas high school senior Brenda emailed me with an idea. She wanted to use some props to showcase her love of learning. I told her I loved the idea and she rolled with it! She gathered props such as a globe and some old looking books by borrowing from various teachers. This girl drove all the way from Dumas to Palo Duro Canyon with a giant, heavy globe in her lap! We set up a sort of outdoor studio right in the middle of canyon and if anyone saw us as they drove by, they probably thought we were crazy. But it was totally worth it. Make sure you scroll down all of the way to see the results of Brenda's creativity!

Meghann + Drew | Bella Vie Lubbock Wedding

Meghann + Drew's wedding at Bella Vie in Lubbock was a photographer's dream. Meghann's perfect attention to detail lead to one of the most beautiful weddings I've ever seen. The blush hues perfectly intermingled with the eucalyptus leaves to create a soft, elegant, classic, yet unique look. And one of my favorite things about this wedding was the venue itself. With the perfect light, it was difficult to take a bad photo there. It has the feel of an outdoor wedding with the comfort of being indoors - and that's great for photos.

Becca Joy + Jacob | Autumn Oaks Lubbock Wedding

8 years. That's how long Becca Joy + Jacob have been together. And the sweetest part? They said "I do" on their eighth anniversary. Everything about this couple is amazing and I honestly can't say enough good things about them. They are gracious, they love Jesus, and they clearly love each other. It's easy to see why they have a ton of friends.
