Dylan + Chloe | Intimate Backyard Wedding at Historic Home in Canyon, Texas
I’ve always said that weddings are at their best when they are filled with meaningful details and emotional moments. Dylan and Chloe’s wedding was filled to the brim with meaning. The wedding took place in Chloe’s home which is one of the oldest houses in Canyon, Texas. Her mom, Carrie, even showed me a picture of the first family that built the house 100+ years ago. Chloe got ready for her day in her childhood bedroom - complete with Annie Oakley posters on the wall (I love that!). I took her detail pictures of her shoes and rings on the wooden staircase.
Dylan and Chloe had their first look in the backyard in the exact same spot that Dylan proposed a few months ago. Then we took pictures on the historic Canyon square. Back at the house, right before the wedding ceremony, Chloe’s sweet bridesmaids surrounded her in prayer in the dining room.
With emotions running high, Chloe walked down the aisle to Dylan and each of them took turns wiping small tears from the other’s eyes as they became husband and wife.
Chloe and Dylan were almost too easy to take pictures of. I even felt at times like my directing and posing was getting in the way - they were so natural together that I could take a step back and let them be and end up with the best pictures.
I wrote on my website, “50 years from now, you’ll want authentic and meaningful photographs that allow you to cherish the fleeting moments of your wedding day forever - so that as you spend the rest of your lives together, you can remember that one special day. From the peaceful, mundane days to the mountaintop moments that life brings, the day that started your lives together can be recalled through photographs. Each image is an expression of your unmatched and exceptional love story. The moments of joy, the laughter from your friends and family, and the beautiful setting you carefully selected will be brought back to life when you look through your weddings photos.”
This wedding completely encapsulates that statement and to be honest, I had nothing to do with bringing that to life for Chloe and Dylan. It was all the work of their loving families. It’s what I hope for every single one of my clients.
